iDigBio: What’s in a name – dataset, collection, institution, publisher, recordset?
We are often asked questions such as, “How many collections are there?” “Who is participating in digitization activity?” “How much progress has been made toward digitizing collections?” Although answers to these questions appear to be straight-forward, they often require paragraphs of qualifiers to answer accurately. This rich diversity is documented through research collections of fossil and extant organisms housed in natural history museums, universities, field facilities, botanical gardens, state surveys, and other institutions maintaining collection facilities.

iDigBio is hiring a systems programmer at the ACIS lab in the Electrical Engineering department! Come join our 4 person team working on our data infrastructure and build out new systems around data quality, taxonomy, annotations, 3-D media, and linked open data.
