The Berkeley Natural History Museums, the Berkeley Initiative for Global Change Biology, and iDigBio are pleased to announce the second annual Digital Data in Biodiversity Research Conference, to be held in Berkeley, CA, 4-6 June 2018.
The rapid mobilization of digitized biodiversity data, led largely in the United States by the National Science Foundation’s Advancing Digitization of Biodiversity Collections program, has resulted in a substantial increase in available data for research and related activities. The 2018 conference will again encompass the uses of digitized data across all biodiversity disciplines, with special emphasis on digitized specimen data and the potential for “big data” analytics in organismal biology. This conference will provide an important opportunity to explore digital data tools, techniques, discoveries, and outcomes across the biodiversity sciences.
This year we are offering attendees an opportunity to propose oral and poster presentations as well as to propose and lead an open discussion session about a critical topic in the research use of digital data. Each of these requires an abstract submission, all of which can be completed on a single abstract form. You may propose up to three sessions: oral, poster, and discussion. You will receive a link to the abstract submission form upon registering. Abstracts must be submitted by April 30, 2018. Only abstracts from registered attendees will be considered.
Economy lodging: We have secured a package deal at very low cost that includes 3 nights in a dorm style room, shared bathroom and breakfast daily. Rates are for evening of June 3 - morning of June 6. Dates cannot be changed. Limited space is available. Deadline to book economy lodging is April 30.
