iDigBio 2012 Summit
UPDATE: The second annual iDigBio Summit was a great success! Thanks to all who participated! The presentations and notes have been uploaded and linked in the Summit summary document.
The second annual iDigBio summit will be held on October 23-24, 2012, in Gainesville, Florida. The summit is presented by iDigBio, the national resource and HUB (Home Uniting Biocollections), at the University of Florida and Florida State University for the Advancing Digitization of Biodiversity Collections (ADBC) program.
Through a series of presentations and guided discussion groups, the summit will promote:
- clarification of objectives,
- communication of progress towards achieving objectives,
- identification and discussion of challenges and opportunities, and
- collaboration among stakeholders.
During Summit Day 1, presenters from iDigBio, freshmen TCNs, sophomore TCNs, and the Working Groups will provide details related to ongoing and planned activities, including brief reports on workshops held over the past year. The agenda has been structured to facilitate collaboration and discussion throughout the day.
During Summit Day 2, guided discussion groups will be focused around key challenge topics expressed by the stakeholders during a pre-summit survey. The guided discussion groups will facilitate exploration of each challenge area, with the goal of identifying and prioritizing key stakeholder needs.
