How can I contribute to iDigBio?
iDigBio Wiki
iDigBio is building an encyclopedia for digitization, written collaboratively by the people who will use it. We will use a special type of website designed to make collaboration easy, called a wiki. Many people are constantly improving iDigBio's wiki, making many changes per hour. All of these changes are recorded in article histories and recent changes. Don't be afraid to edit – anyone can edit almost every page, and you are encouraged to be bold! Find something that can be improved and make it better—for example, spelling, grammar, rewriting for readability, adding content, or removing non-constructive edits. If you wish to add new facts, please try to provide references so they may be verified, or suggest them on the article's discussion page. Changes to controversial topics and iDigBio's main pages should usually be discussed first.
Remember – you can't break this wiki; all edits can be reversed, fixed or improved later. This documentation is allowed to be imperfect. So go ahead, edit an article and help make iDigBio the best information source for digitization on the Internet!

Appliance Proposal
An important activity of iDigBio is to deliver IT infrastructure and services for a highly coordinated biocollections digitization community. Through the use of computer appliances, separate and discrete computing devices designed to provide a specific computing resource, the biocollections digitization community will interact with the iDigBio storage cloud and specimen database.
The iDigBio team seeks to team up with developers of tools that have demonstrated broad applicability in the collections community to guide development, disseminate, and host virtual appliances that integrate such tools. You can use the following form to submit one of 3 appliance proposals:
- End-user appliances
- iDigBio-hosted tools and services
- Dissemination of user-provided appliances

Workshop and Working Group Proposals
iDigBio will be co-ordinating its efforts through the support of working groups and workshops. Working Groups are small, enduring, topic-focused, collaborative groups of individuals (typically 10-15 participants). Members of Working Groups will collaborate virtually via the iDigBio Forum, Listservs, Wiki, Tele/Video-Conferencing and/or via onsite meetings to resolve issues and advance progress on the goals of the group. Working Group membership may change over time; however the structure and objectives of the group are long-standing.
Workshops are distinct meeting events, held either virtually or onsite, that focus on producing clear deliverables and addressing clear objectives. Workshops are typically supported by a Working Group. The Working Group executes the planning of the event, and ensures that the outcomes and action items from the Workshop are carried through.
