On October 3, 2011, a 15 question survey was distributed to 80 email addresses provided by the Principal Investigators of the three currently funded TCNs. An introductory email alerting the recipients to the forthcoming survey was sent first. Thirty-four of the recipients opened the survey, and 30 partially or fully complete surveys were submitted. Several of the recipients received more than one survey request because of multiple email addresses, and in at least two instances colleagues collaborated on the survey. Consequently, the response rate exceeded 36% although it is not clear by how much. It also is not possible to determine exactly how long on average it took recipients to complete the survey as several individuals left the survey open for days while others answered only one question; however, half of those who responded appeared to spend between 10 to 60 minutes on the survey.
