iDigBio will be presenting at FMSEA (Florida Marine Science Educators Association) 2018 Conference which will be held in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, 3-6 May 2018.

Abstract

Thanks to the livestreaming program provided by NOAA’s Okeanos Explorer, people are now able to join scientists as they explore unknown areas of the deep sea. Viewers can ask questions about biology, oceanography, geology and engineering through interacting with the Okeanos crew and scientists. Join iDigBio as we use the powerful tools provided by our data portal to explore the natural history and biogeography of these amazing organisms that can be seen during the Okeanos dives!

Objectives

Our aim is to bring awareness of iDigBio initiatives to Florida Marine science educators, thereby promoting iDigBio and use of digitized collections in classrooms (formal and informal). We plan to leverage the Okeanos platform in introducing folks to the resources within Natural History collections.
