The Biodiversity Collections Network (BCoN – www.aibs.bcon.org) is a 5-year NSF funded Research Coordination Network (RCN) grant tasked with investigating the implementation of the Network Integrated Biocollections Alliance (NIBA) plan. Back in 2012, the NIBA implementation plan https://www.aibs.org/public-policy/NIBA_Implementation_Plan.pdf) was released which articulated a number of key goals in the formation of NIBA.

Goal 2 of the NIBA plan is to find ways to "advance engineering of the US Biocollections cyberinfrastructure." In this Data Integration and Attribution Workshop, BCoN members and invited participants will focus on a needs assessment for collections and related data integration, citation and attribution issues. We will be looking for metrics needs when tracking collections data use and documenting data integration needs. iDigBio will be there, along with members from such groups at NSCA, SPNHC, AIBS, VertNet, and others.

Other BCoN workshops are being planned to address the issues from this workshop's needs discovery and assesment process.

BCoN will keep you in the loop!
