Category:Bar code

An encoded value usually attached in some way to a specimen, either directly or to its container. Mean to uniquely identify the specimen with the institution or at least within the collection. It requires a reader or 'wedge' to decode it. The barcode value should be part of the digital record of the specimen. See also 'barcode'.
