Portal Curiosities: An Adventurous Shark

[1]A Leopard Shark [1] (Triakis semifasciata) was found in Samish Bay, Washington, making it the northern-most record for this species [2] (the range had previously been documented from Oregon to the Gulf of California).

This specimen is housed at the Burke Museum [3] and was featured in the article "10 weirdest Fishes at the Burke [4]" and cited in a publication extending the northern range [5] of the Leopard Shark. Image courtesy of the Burke Museum.

Featured in the May 2016 iDigBio e-newsletter [6]
