2017 iDigBio Collaboration Meetings
As we move into Year 7 of iDigBio, we will focus on tasks that are required in the Cooperative Agreement with NSF as well as those that are identified as most important by NSF and the iDigBio leadership for long-term sustainability.
We will continue our weekly and monthly meetings that have served us well in identifying priorities and outlining activities and collaborations among the domains of iDigBio. However, the weekly Thursday meetings that focus on discussions between biologists and IT staff will now be held in the iDigBio Conference Room (Bldg 105 Rm 310) and will focus on topics identified as priorities by the iDigBio leadership (with input from all staff). The DIM, DUR, All-Hands, Portal Stories, and Data Management model will no longer apply.
Each Thursday meeting will focus on a specific topic that has been identified as a priority. That topic will be discussed until tangible outcomes and/or action items are achieved, which may require several sequential meetings. Once a topic reaches resolution or action required, then the group will decide the topic for the next meeting (before the current meeting ends). We are renaming the Thursday meetings "Collaboration Meetings" to reflect their nature.
On the third week of each month, the Thursday meeting will be a "Checkpoint Meeting" where progress on topics discussed at the other Thursday meetings will be presented and where the team can identify priority topics for discussion at upcoming meetings. In addition, the Checkpoint Meetings will include recurring update topics, such as Data Ingestion and Infrastructure.
Thank you,
Larry, Jose, Pam, Bruce, Greg and David
