Field NotesNOTEBY J. Longino, NOTEDATE 2-Mar-08: Pheidole; clay bank on stream east of Eladio's; at night; foragers on bank led to simple hole; opened into gallery 1cm dia.; excavated back into bank, found about 4 chambers with brood, major workers, minors; one with queen; in volume of bank about 20cm deep, 20cm across; found what looked like internal trash midden in one chamber; nematodes in midden. Later, on examination of vial, I also found remains of Myrmelachista nigrocotea (?, as det. in etoh) queen and a few small plant seeds.
