The roadside was gravel mixed with soil with scattered larger rocks, a layer of herbaceous vegetation and small tree seedlings. I lifted one rock and two workers quickly disappeared. I excavated some and managed to capture a few workers. I also unearthed a small black Formica (JTL4762) in the hole. A Lasius queen (JTL4763) was also unearthed in the excavation.",
