José Fortes, iDigBio PI, Awarded 2019-20 Teacher/Scholar of the Year

Professor and AT&T Eminent Scholar José A. B. Fortes was recently notified in a letter from University of Florida President Kent Fuchs that he is the recipient of the 2019-20 Teacher/Scholar of the Year Award, the highest faculty honor at UF. The annual award is given in recognition of excellence in teaching and distinction in scholarly activity.

The award is made upon recommendations from members of the UF faculty, deans, with the approval of the Academic Advisory Committee, the Provost, and the President. With the receipt of the award, Dr. Fortes automatically becomes a member of the prestigious Academy of Distinguished Teaching Scholars.

As the University of Florida’s Teacher/Scholar of the Year, Dr. Fortes will also serve as the university’s nominee for the SEC Distinguished Faculty Achievement Award.
