Join iDigBio’s Education and Outreach Team for our upcoming SciComm (Science Communcation) Series starting on August 15th at 1PM ET! As always, the E&O meetings are free to attend and open to anyone! Our first guest speaker will be Kellum Tate Jones from Refugium Consulting. Kellum (she/her/hers) is the executive director of Refugium Consulting, an agency dedicated to inclusive community outreach and engagement in the natural sciences and academia. Her work lies at the intersection of science and art, with a particular emphasis on the transformative power of stories. Since founding Refugium, Kellum has completed projects with the Oregon Department of Geological and Mineral Industries, CRESCENT Earthquake Research Center, and the University of Oregon Office of the Provost. She holds a PhD in Earth Sciences that focused on understanding seal evolution by studying their fossil record. In her spare time, Kellum can be found birding, reading speculative fiction, gardening, or working on her craft of the month. Today, she lives in Eugene, Oregon, on the traditional homeland of the Kalapuya people.
